It is important to note that in areas close to the epicenter, the warning time is a few seconds, similar to missile warnings in areas close to Gaza. More distant areas such as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv did not receive a warning in the current case because the intensity of the vibrations there was very weak and the tremor was not felt.
The system’s performance indicates the quality of the national warning system called “Tzva’ah” which will also provide a warning on the day a strong earthquake occurs. In such a case, a warning will be heard throughout the country and residents will be able to take life-saving actions before the destructive waves hit their homes.
