President of the State of Israel Meets with Israel’s ‘Outstanding Soldiers’ Ahead of Independence Day

President Isaac Herzog met 120 "outstanding" IDF soldiers at the President's House in Jerusalem, honoring their service ahead of Independence Day.

Jerusalem, 19 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, met the 120 IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldiers/sailors being honored this as “outstanding” servicemen and women for Israel’s Independence Day this week. He met them during the dress rehearsal for the President’s “Outstanding Soldiers Ceremony” today, Sunday, April 19, in the courtyard of the President’s House in Jerusalem.

The president walked among the 120 soldiers and heard their stories, congratulated them on their status, and said:

“It is a tremendous honor to see you here, you represent the unique mosaic that makes up the country, from all the amazing Israeli backgrounds and diversity. First of all, I want to thank the lone soldiers who are here without their families. I want to strengthen you and thank you, everyone who fought and is fighting, each and every one of you for your contribution to Israel’s security – I will tell you in detail about your story tomorrow at the ceremony.”

“We are very excited that you are this year’s honorees, this is a great moment that you will take with you for life. Good luck and thank you very much to all of you, see you tomorrow.”
