Jerusalem, 20 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and food security will allocate around NIS 30 million ($10 million) in direct support to olive oil growers in 2026 to help bolster local production and Food security. The move follows the 2023 reduction in tariffs on olive oil imports and a shift toward compensating farmers directly rather than through border protection.
Funding will be distributed according to the size of olive groves and cultivation methods, including irrigated and self-fertile systems. Deputy Director of Finance and Investments Yossi Steinberg said the support provides “economic certainty” for growers and helps maintain stable domestic production amid market competition.
