Jerusalem, 14 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Knesset’s Economics Committee approved Wednesday the dairy farm planning regulations (regulating the production, marketing, and regulation of milk), which were promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The regulations include a series of changes initiated by The Ministry for the purpose of “more efficient and advanced management” of the dairy farm in Israel, and regulate the authorities and mechanisms required to manage the industry in routine and emergency situations.

Among other things, the regulations regulate the management of shortages and surpluses in the dairy sector, milk transfers between dairies, the activities of small dairies, reporting obligations and inventory management. The regulations also provide tools and authorities for managing the industry in emergencies, war, or disruptions in the supply chain.

For example, the regulations allow the director of the Dairy Council to order the transfer of milk between dairies in cases of shortage, in order to ensure the continued regular production of dairy products for the public, and in particular supervised dairy products. In addition, the regulations regulate mechanisms for handling milk surpluses, inventory management, and regulatory actions intended to maintain the stability of the industry and enable functional continuity even during complex periods.
