Kafr Qara Murder Adds to Soaring Israeli-Arab Homicide Toll in 2025

Jerusalem, 2 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — A man was murdered Saturday night near his home in the northern Arab town of Kafr Qara, shortly after being released from prison as a wave of israeli-arab homicides continued.

The victim was identified as 40-year-old Amin Agbariya from Umm al-Fahm. Agbariya had served 17 years in prison for the 2008 killing of a kiosk owner during a business dispute. He had married two months ago.

Magen David Adom medics called to the scene found Agbariya critically injured with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera, where doctors could not save him.

According to police, the motive remains under investigation.

The murder follows another deadly incident in Kafr Qara last week, when 17-year-old Muhammad Hussein Marazka of Arara was fatally stabbed during a fight at a local school. Marazka was rushed to HaEmek Hospital without signs of life and later pronounced dead. Police arrested another student suspected of involvement in the altercation.

Meanwhile, Nadal Musrati, a Lod resident in his 20s, died from his wounds on Friday after being shot in Jaffa four months ago. Police have not reported any arrests.

According to the Abraham Initiatives, a non-profit organization that promotes Arab integration into Israeli society, 215 Arab-Israelis have been murdered in 2025.

The spike continues a pattern of violence in the Arab sector, which saw 230 murders in 2024. In 2023, a record number of 244 Israeli Arabs were murdered, more than double the 120 homicides in 2022.

The surge in violence is attributed to organized crime groups fighting turf battles and attempting to eliminate rivals. Arab criminal organizations have been involved in extortion, money laundering, and trafficking in weapons, drugs, and women.

Critics argue the crime wave has worsened since Itamar Ben-Gvir, a far-right politician, became National Security Minister in 2022.
