Jerusalem, 1 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli security forces arrested a resident of the Bedouin village of Laqia in the Negev on suspicion of supporting Islamic State (ISIS) and illegally possessing weapons, it was cleared for publication on Monday.
The suspect, identified as Islam Al-Sana’a, was detained several weeks ago in a joint operation by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and Israel Police. Investigators said Al-Sana’a had engaged extensively with ISIS propaganda and extremist ideology, operating social media accounts that promoted the terrorist group and encouraged acts of violence.
During questioning, Al-Sana’a allegedly admitted to offenses involving weapons and surrendered an M16 rifle he had been holding illegally.
According to officials, evidence gathered during the probe showed Al-Sana’a’s deep identification with ISIS and efforts to spread the group’s content online. “He operated social networks where he shared many extremist materials encouraging identification with ISIS and the commission of terrorist acts,” the Shin Bet said.
Following the investigation, the Southern District Attorney’s Office filed an indictment charging Al-Sana’a with incitement to terrorism, identification with a terrorist organization, and unlawful possession and carrying of a weapon.
