According to the indictment, filed by Adv. Ariel Illouz from the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office, the security guards exploited their public position and the authorities granted to them, and systematically, in exchange for payment, allowed the passage of vehicles containing illegal residents, contrary to procedures, without security checks, and with indifference to the security risk posed by their actions.
In one of the cases, the security guards agreed in advance to act according to the method and allow the passage of unauthorized vehicles through the checkpoint. On that day, while one of them was guarding the checkpoint, he allowed the passage of two vehicles containing illegal residents, after the other security guard had previously provided him with their details. In exchange for the passage of the vehicles, the defendants demanded and received large sums of bribe money. After crossing the checkpoint, the illegal residents entered the area of Givat Ze’ev and continued on their way without any security checks.
According to the indictment, this is a regular and coordinated pattern of operation, in which vehicle details were transferred in advance, guard posts were switched, and actions were taken to conceal the acts and avoid detection by law enforcement agencies.
It also emerges from the indictment that the additional defendants were involved in transporting the illegal residents and paid bribe money to the security guards, thereby taking an active part in the criminal mechanism.
In the arrest request, it was written, among other things, by Adv. Ariel Illouz from the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office that “..the respondents systematically, extensively, and for a long period, brought illegal residents into the country, while committing bribery offenses, and for financial gain. The respondents’ actions were carried out, as detailed in the indictment, during a sensitive security period, during which the State of Israel is engaged in combat on various fronts.”
