Indictment against Eilat detective for assault

An Israeli Eilat detective is indicted for assault and obstruction of justice after ramming a scooter with a police car, kicking the rider, and filing a false.

According to the indictment filed by attorney Daniel Arfi with the Magistrate’s Court in Be’er Sheva, the accused, who served as a detective at the Eilat police station, noticed the complainant riding an electric scooter near the city’s garages.

After the complainant cursed at him, the accused began to pursue him in a police car along with two other officers.

During the chase, the accused rammed the scooter with the police car, causing the complainant to be thrown onto the road. The accused approached the complainant while he was trying to get up and escape on foot, kicked him four times in the head and upper body, and then punched him. At the end of the incident, the accused also filed a false operational report, which did not reflect what actually happened.

The indictment attributes to the accused offenses of simple assault and obstruction of justice. The investigation was conducted by the Southern Team of the Police Internal Investigations Department.
