Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar and his counterpart Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky discussed the situation in the Middle East and the strengthening of relations between the countries.

FM Sa’ar thanked FM Lipavsky for the Czech Republic’s support for Israel in its challenging period and for the successful cooperation demonstrated at the Association Council meeting in Brussels.

Following their meeting, the two made statements to the media.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar:

“I had a very good meeting with the Czech Foreign Minister. Our countries share a long-standing history of deep friendship that has endured numerous challenges. Even in the current war, the Czech Republic stood by Israel in its difficult time. Foreign Minister Lipavsky, you were the first foreign minister to visit Israel after October 7. The Czech Republic stood by us in the international arena in international forums.
The past week was very difficult. Yarden Bibas, the head of the Bibas family, laid his wife and two children to rest.  This immense tragedy, to which the world has been exposed, is just further proof of the unimaginable cruelty of our enemy. We are committed to the release of all abductees and will continue to seek different ways to do so. Our delegation will depart to Cairo to determine whether there is common ground for extending the outline, in exchange for the return of additional hostages.”

Czech FM Jan Lipavsky addressed FM Sa’ar:

“I have come to Israel from Brussels, where I attended the important Association Council meeting of the European Union with Israel. Your leadership at the Association Council meeting was commendable. We have also made considerable efforts to renew the Association, to which we are deeply committed and regard with great importance.”
