At the opening ceremony of the Israeli embassy in Moldova, speeches were delivered by Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Mihai Popșoi.
This is the first inauguration of an Israeli embassy in Moldova.
FM Sa’ar: “This is a historic moment that marks a milestone in relations between the countries. Moldova is a friendly country to Israel. Our policy will be to strengthen relations with our friends. We are upgrading our relationship today and doing so with great joy.”
Israel officially recognized Moldova’s independence in 1991. In 1992, diplomatic relations between the countries were established, and Moldova has had an embassy in Israel since 1994. Over the years, Israel has had a non-resident ambassador to Moldova. FM Sa’ar decided to open the Israeli embassy in Moldova in December 2024.
