The National Digital Directorate and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology announced today (January 19, 2026) 13 new government projects that will receive support within the framework of the second call for proposals for the integration of artificial intelligence in the work of government ministries. This is a large-scale initiative to promote artificial intelligence applications in government ministries and their subordinate units, with the aim of improving citizen services, streamlining work processes, and advancing the public sector into the era of artificial intelligence.                                                          

As part of the program, with a total investment of approximately NIS 40 million, led by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology and the National Digital Directorate, the selected projects will receive professional guidance from AI experts from the public sector and academia, dedicated training, and regulatory guidance that will ensure the responsible implementation of the technology in government ministries. This initiative is a continuation of the success of the first phase, which began in 2023 and included an investment of NIS 50 million in nine groundbreaking government projects that are currently in advanced development stages.

Among the winning projects are innovative and groundbreaking initiatives in government ministries and their subordinate units, which are expected to impact various areas of life – health, education, employment, environment, and citizen service:   

  • Ministry of Health: Development of a GenAI system for smart summarization of discharge letters from hospitalization, with the aim of shortening processes and reducing burdens in medical centers; 
  • Ministry of Education: Development of a GenAI system for writing and managing personalized learning plans (Tal’a) for students entitled to special education;  
  • Tax Authority: Establishment of an AI-based voice bot infrastructure to improve the quality of citizen response and streamline service;  
  • Population and Immigration Authority: Use of AI for smart and automatic response to public inquiries at service centers.
  • Nature and Parks Authority: Use of artificial intelligence to identify and prevent wildlife poisoning and to reduce human-wildlife conflict.
  • Ministry of Finance: Development of an AI-based salary simulator for accurate calculation of the implications of salary changes for public sector employees.
