Jerusalem, 10 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli telecom companies have completed the first phase of shutting down 2G and 3G networks, freeing frequencies for faster 4G and 5G services. The Ministry of Communications said the transition proceeded smoothly, with no major disruptions, and older networks remain partially active for now. Communications Minister Dr. Shlomo Karhi stressed that users of older phones will still be able to make emergency calls until 2028.
Citizens are encouraged to upgrade to 4G/5G devices to ensure optimal service and high-speed connectivity.
