Israeli Military Chief Pledges Continued Action in Gaza Until Hamas Is Disarmed

Israeli Military Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited Gaza, pledging continued action until Hamas is disarmed and threats are eliminated on all fronts.

Jerusalem, 7 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Chief of Staff, Lt. General Eyal Zamir, visited the Gaza Strip today (Sunday).

During the visit, the Chief of Staff toured outposts deep in the Gaza Strip, conducted a situation assessment, heard operational reviews from brigade commanders, and held a commanders’ dialogue.

“The IDF is strengthening operational control on the ground and continues to erode Hamas’s power,” said Zamir. “We will continue to act until we achieve the goal of disarming Hamas – this is a goal we will not give up on.”

“IDF fighters are standing at the forefront of the frontline defense of Israeli citizens – here in the Gaza Strip, the fighters continue to cleanse the area and eliminate terrorists,” he said. “I have approved plans to continue deepening the damage to Hezbollah, we will continue to eliminate every terrorist organization in Judea and Samaria, and I continue from here to conduct a situation assessment on the issue of Iran. IDF fighters are operating simultaneously and vigorously on all fronts until every threat is removed.”

“We will continue to work to eradicate terrorism in all sectors and to strengthen the defense of our communities and citizens,” added Zamir. “Our forces operate proactively and offensively in all arenas – what is true for Gaza is also true for other arenas. We are focused on thwarting threats as they arise and disrupting terrorist organizations, here in the Gaza Strip and in all areas of combat.”
