The IDF warns Christian residents of Tyre to demand Hezbollah's departure, stating the terrorist group is using their neighborhood as a safe haven.

Jerusalem, 2 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Colonel Avichay Adraee, an IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Arabic spokesman, issued a warning about Hezbollah to the Christian Arab residents of Tyre.

Adraee told them that Hezbollah continues to operate from within their area and, “for the sake of your security and safety,” they should demand the removal of Hezbollah from their areas.

And to the Hezbollah terrorists present in the city of Tyre, Adraee told them that they, “are not safe there. If you continue to remain and operate from inside this area, the Israel Defense Forces will issue instructions to evacuate the Christian neighborhood and will take the necessary measures against you.”

In recent times, said Adraee, the IDF observed activity by dozens of Hezbollah operatives inside the Christian neighborhood of Tyre, and that this is not the first time it has uncovered Hezbollah activity from within Christian areas, as they believe that “these areas provide it with a safer haven.”

Last week the IDF issued an evacuation warning for areas in the city of Tyre following Hezbollah terrorist activity in the region and its violation of the ceasefire agreement. The evacuation warning, however, did not include the Christian neighborhood in the city.
