Yocheved Lifshitz, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz [and held in Hamas captivity], addressed the foreign affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday. Lifshitz said, “I am from a kibbutz that was completely forsaken by the Government and the army. We were left for hours in the hands of the Hamasniks who abused, slaughtered and ate the breakfast left behind by the kibbutz members.
“I ask this Government, until when? You know that in captivity I lost a kilogram every two days; now think about those who are still there. You’re discussing everything else except for bringing them home.
“Today, when I travel to Nir Oz, one of the things that is most difficult for me is to see that 85% of the kibbutz is burned, that one of every four was either kidnapped or murdered, and Bibi [prime minister MK Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud)] remembered to come and visit after a year and seven months. He promised great things, but as soon as he crossed the fence he forgot about us.
“Look at what’s happening on the other side; that is our destruction. We are being portrayed as murderers instead of them being the murderers. There is nothing that can help us except for the release [of the hostages] and vacating the territory,” she said.
