Speaker of the Knesset MK Amir Ohana (Likud) met on Tuesday in his chamber in the Knesset with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić.

In a statement to the media given by the two, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia announced that Serbia would lower in the coming hours the level of the travel advisory for Israel (from Red, the highest level, to Yellow, indicating travel with precautions). She said further that Air Serbia was preparing to renew its flights to and from Ben-Gurion Airport.

Speaker Brnabić expressed the demand for Hamas to release hostage Alon Ohel, who holds Serbian citizenship, immediately—along with all the hostages.

Speaker of the Knesset MK Ohana said, “This is a difficult morning for the State of Israel. The nation mourns five of our heroic soldiers who fell in the Gaza Strip. On behalf of the Knesset, I extend condolences to the families of the fallen and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

The Speaker of the Knesset thanked the guest for being the first parliament leader from around the world to visit Israel after the daring operation in Iran, and said that [Israel] was filled with appreciation and thanks for Serbia, which stood with Israel in international forums against immoral proposals and resolutions. “It is in times like these, in the crucible of crisis, that true friends emerge,” said Speaker MK Ohana.

Speaker Brnabić is scheduled to meet later in the day with Members of Knesset from the Israel-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by MK Boaz Toporovsky (Yesh Atid), as well as members of the Knesset’s Science and Technology Committee.
