In its sitting on Tuesday, the knesset Plenum held a special debate marking International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, and Struggle Against Antisemitism Day.
MK Yasmin Fridman (Yesh Atid) opened the debate and said, “12,000 Holocaust survivors passed away in 2025. Holocaust survivors should not have to struggle in their old age; they are entitled to it. We, as public representatives, must ensure that all Holocaust survivors, without exception, receive the life they deserve after their great sacrifice. Today, a clear commitment should emerge from the Israeli Knesset: To remember as a moral compass, to teach future generations, and to act, so that Holocaust survivors can enjoy lives of dignity, security, and true recognition.”
MK Nissim Vaturi (Likud) said, “As we stand here today in a sovereign state, with an army that protects its citizens, we bear a double responsibility: To remember and to teach. To teach the youth a clear and unequivocal message – you must continue us here in the Land of Israel and remember all the jewish communities that were persecuted. Furthermore, we must teach future generations that the state of Israel is not a given. We fight every day for the eternity of Israel, all of us together. We are always united against our enemies.”
