​The chair of the Knesset Delegation for Relations with the European Parliament, MK Ariel Kallner (Likud), and the Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Israel, Hildegard Bentele, signed a joint statement on Wednesday in which they call on the European Union (EU) to “adopt further firm and concrete sanctions against the terrorist organization Hamas”; reaffirm that “Hamas and other terrorist organizations cannot be allowed to retain any political or military control in the Gaza Strip so that Gaza must no longer pose a threat to the State of Israel”; “reiterate the commitment to Israel’s security”; reaffirm Israel’s “inalienable right to ensure the security of its citizens in full compliance with international law;” and recognize that Israel “remains a strategic EU partner in countering regional terrorism, including threats from the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies.”

The European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Israel held a series of meetings at the Knesset on Wednesday with several Members of Knesset, including Speaker of the Knesset MK Amir Ohana (Likud).
