The Committee for Oversight of the Israeli Citizens’ Fund, chaired by MK Nissim Vaturi (Likud), visited Eilat on Sunday as part of its examination of the possibility of allocating funds from the fund for the development of innovation centers in the city, including in the fields of biotechnology and marine ecology.
During the visit, Eilat Mayor Eli Lankri briefed the committee members on the city’s strategic importance, and the committee was also presented with a plan to address the city’s employment challenges, a plan for energy independence, and the city’s development plan. In addition, the committee heard about a project to establish a community educational center for the marine environment at EAPC (Katza) Beach.
Afterwards, the committee members visited the Ye’elim elementary school, which is energy independent and not connected to a power grid. They also visited SeaNovation, a global innovation center in the fields of biotechnology and marine agriculture, as well as Healing Water Space, which provides support for people suffering from post-trauma and anxiety.
committee chair MK Vaturi: “We will continue to invest in education, employment, and renewable energy, for all the children of Israel, with an emphasis on the periphery. During the tour we visited, among other places, a rehabilitation facility for people coping with mental health challenges. The committee under my leadership will invest in the rehabilitation of IDF soldiers injured during the war.”
