Jerusalem, 9 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Director General of the Ministry of the Interior, Israel Ozan, appointed, in accordance with the Municipal Ordinance Law and in accordance with the authority delegated to him, a committee to examine the performance of the mayor and members of the plenum in the municipality of Qalansawe, an Arab city in Central Israel.
The committee to examine the functioning of the authority was established after findings of improper, financial and professional conduct emerged and after many unsuccessful efforts to restore the authority.
Director General Ozan: “The Ministry of the Interior considers the stability of Local authorities and their ability to provide adequate services to Residents to be of paramount importance. The decision to appoint the committee stems from sincere concern for the future of the municipality of Qalansawe and with the aim of examining in depth the administrative and economic challenges facing it. The committee, consisting of professionals, will conduct a professional and substantive examination in order to assist the ministry in formulating the right steps that will ensure the well-being of the Residents.”
