Following routine inspection activities conducted by the Ministry of Health‘s Food Service, as well as a citizen’s complaint, it was found that the product “Cold Pressed Syrian Olive Oil” from the brand “Secret of the Harvest” for all expiration dates and in all sizes does not conform to the definition of olive oil.
Laboratory tests found that the fatty acid composition in the product does not conform to the definition of olive oil as stated on the product label, and the manufacturer is not recognized by the Ministry of Health, therefore the product is counterfeit and does not meet the Israeli standard for olive oil.

The Ministry of Health‘s Food Service will continue to examine and identify cases of food fraud, such as olive oil counterfeiting. Should a violation of Israeli legislation and regulations be found, measures will be taken using all means available to the Ministry, in cooperation with all other relevant authorities responsible for handling such cases.
