In the elections held this evening (Wednesday) in Savyon, Rabbi Uri Sedan was elected to the position of local rabbi. Rabbi Uri Sedan’s election was made possible after he won the majority of votes from the members of the electoral assembly.
This appointment is part of the ministry of Religious Services’ policy to lead permanent appointments of city rabbis in Israel, recognizing the importance of stable and permanent Torah leadership. This is a significant step for the residents of Savyon, which has not had a rabbi in the local council since 2016, when Rabbi David Brodman retired from his position as rabbi of the local council.
The Director-General of the Ministry of Religious Services, Yehuda Avidan, thanked the Chairman of the Election Committee, member of the Great Rabbinical Court (ret.) Rabbi Michael Amos, and the Mayor Mr. Moti Landau for their professional guidance.
Eleven candidates competed for the position. As mentioned, Rabbi Sedan was elected by a majority of votes.
The Election Committee was headed by Rabbi Michael Amos, a member of the Great Rabbinical Court (ret.). The additional committee members were: Rabbi Yitzhak Levi, Rabbi of Nesher, Ms. Yael Weissman, Ms. Libi Baram, and Ms. Yamit Yona. The committee secretary is Mr. Yaakov Cohen.
