President Herzog Welcomed by Governor-General of Australia Sam Mostyn in Canberra

Israel's President Isaac Herzog was welcomed by Australia's Governor-General Sam Mostyn & PM Anthony Albanese in Canberra, expressing condolences to the Jewish.

On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, President Isaac Herzog was received with a ceremonial welcome at Government House by Governor-General Sam Mostyn and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Following the ceremonial welcome, President Herzog held an official meeting with the Governor-General. Governor-General Mostyn then hosted President Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog for a State Lunch at Government House.

President Isaac Herzog:

“I have come here to express our condolences and bereavement, pain and love to the Jewish community of Australia. I’m very honored to be with you, and I know how much time you spend in consoling and supporting the Jewish community.

“We also share the hope that we can bring the relations between our nations on a renewed path. Israel and Australia go back with a long history. I hope this will serve as a big message for both nations and both peoples.”

Governor-General Sam Mostyn:

“It’s terribly important that your visit is one that stands with those who are still grieving, those that want to know that they are safe, and this visit has been very important to them. I’m very, very pleased to welcome you and your wife and your delegation here.”
