Israeli President joins emotional olive tree planting event with 1873 reserve battalion volunteers, honoring their commitment to the country's security.

The President‘s Residence:

As part of a special planting tour I held across the country, I participated in a moving event with soldiers of the 1873 reserve battalion and their families, and together we planted an olive tree in Tel Hadid.

The battalion is comprised of reserve soldiers who have passed the age of exemption, but chose to return and volunteer for service following the difficult war. This is the first battalion established in this format and it has become operational.

I thanked and strengthened the soldiers and commanders of the battalion, the brigade, and the division for their commitment, mutual responsibility, and willingness to enlist for the sake of the country, despite the many challenges. I also thanked the wives and families who were there in large numbers for their support along the way.

They, along with all the security forces, deepen our roots, make society flourish, and enable us to continue building a shared Israeli tomorrow.

Thanks to the JNF personnel for the important partnership in today’s planting. I salute everyone who enlisted above the exemption age and of course all the serving soldiers.

Well done – go forth and succeed!
