Jerusalem, 29 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics released the data on “International migration of Israelis: Outgoing Israeli immigrants and returning Israeli immigrants in 2024.” In that year, 82,774 Israelis were defined as outgoing immigrants, compared to 59,366 in 2023, an increase of 39.4%.

Also, 24,150 Israelis were defined as returning immigrants in 2024, compared to 29,607 in 2023, a decrease of 18.4%.

Initial data from 2025 indicate that the number of Israelis emigrating abroad (69,5000) has decreased compared to 2024, but it is still higher than the number of those leaving in the years prior to 2023. At the same time, the number of returnees (18,800) is also lower than their number in the decade prior to 2024.

The international migration balance of Israelis in 2024 was negative and stood at -58,624 (meaning the number of departures was higher than the number of returnees), greater than the balance in 2023 (-29,759 Israelis).

The rate of departures in 2024 was 8.5 departures per thousand residents in the population.

The rate of returnees in 2024 was 2.5 returnees per thousand residents in the population.
