Indictment: Shots fired at car with minors

🔴 BREAKING: Published 2 hours ago
Two defendants indicted after firing four shots at a car carrying three minors in Be'er Sheva, following a dispute and attempted harm.

The indictment filed by Adv. Daniel Gilead from the Southern District Attorney’s Office states that about a month ago, an unknown individual approached the complainant and asked him to harm a relative. The complainant refused and told the relative about it, which led to a dispute between him and the defendants, who decided to harm him.

Following this, the defendants, along with another person, drove through the streets of Be’er Sheva, with Batushvili carrying a handgun. At one point, the complainant arrived at the scene in his vehicle, along with three minors. He parked in the area, and one of the minors got out of the car. The defendants then stopped their vehicle parallel to the complainant’s car, blocked his path, and Batushvili got out of the car holding a handgun.

The complainant noticed him and tried to escape by driving away, but at the same time, Jamil blocked his escape route with the vehicle. At this point, Batushvili fired four shots at the complainant’s vehicle. The complainant managed to escape, drove to a nearby kiosk, where he received assistance from passersby, and was evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment.

In the arrest request until the end of proceedings, filed concurrently, Adv. Gilead noted that the defendants fired several shots in a residential area, caused severe injury to the complainant, and endangered human lives, including those of minors. It was further emphasized that a high level of danger stems from those who possess and use firearms, especially in the current period where the use of firearms has become a national plague, and that protecting public safety requires their detention behind bars.

The defendants were charged with offenses of aggravated assault, carrying and transporting a weapon, and firing a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Negev Special Investigations Unit of the Israel Police.
