The indictment filed by Adv. Shani Sapir-Aslan from the Southern District Attorney’s Office states that the defendants possessed bags containing dangerous drugs, including over half a kilogram of cocaine and hundreds of MDMA pills, which were hidden inside a cooler placed in a grave in the Christian section of the cemetery in Ashdod.
A few weeks ago, in the evening, ‘A’ arrived at the grave wearing gloves, opened the top stone of the grave, took two drug bags from the cooler, and placed them on a digital scale. police officers who were present noticed what was happening and shouted, “police, stop.” In response, ‘A’ began to flee the scene, and after being apprehended, resisted arrest. Simultaneously, ‘K’ was arrested in the lobby of his residential building, with a knife, pepper spray, and a screwdriver found on the handlebars of the scooter he was riding.
In the request for arrest until the end of proceedings, filed concurrently, Adv. Sapir-Aslan stated: “The respondents audaciously possessed dangerous drugs in commercial quantities inside a grave, desecrating the honor of the deceased. This indicates that the respondents constitute a significant link in the drug distribution chain. Their release could lead to the continuation of offenses and endanger public safety.”
All defendants were charged with offenses of possessing dangerous drugs not for personal consumption, possessing instruments used for preparing or consuming dangerous drugs, and unauthorized entry into a place of worship or burial. ‘K’ was also charged with illegal possession of a knife, and ‘A’ was also charged with obstructing a police officer in the line of duty.
The case was investigated by the Ashdod Police Station.
