Israel extends improved employer compensation for reserve duty until March 31, 2026, forming an economic safety net for businesses and ensuring continued.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor Yariv Levin, and Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, with the support of Minister of Defense Israel Katz, signed an update to the National Insurance regulations, concerning improved compensation for employers for reserve duty periods.

According to the updated regulations, the temporary order, which provides increased reimbursement to employers and constitutes an economic “safety net” during their employees’ reserve duty, will be extended until the 12th of Nisan, 5786 (March 31, 2026). Concurrently, upon budget approval, the order will become a permanent provision.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor, Yariv Levin: “Reserve soldiers are Israel’s shield, and their employers are full partners in the home front’s war effort. Extending the regulations is our moral and economic obligation, to ensure the economy’s stability and continued support for reservists and their families. We will continue to act so that everyone who contributes to the country receives maximum support.”

Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich: “The State of Israel is strong thanks to the fighters on the front lines and thanks to the employers who sustain the economy from behind. Extending the increased compensation is a clear Zionist statement: we stand behind the reservists, behind their families, and behind the business owners who bear the burden.”

Minister of Defense, Israel Katz: “It is our duty as a state to ensure that those who enlist to defend Israel and those who enable this on the home front do not bear additional economic burdens. Extending the increased compensation for employers is a necessary step that provides certainty, stability, and genuine appreciation to reservists and employers, who continue to sustain the economy even in times of emergency. I will continue to act, together with my government partners, to anchor this solution as a permanent arrangement and to strengthen the security and economic resilience of the State of Israel.”
