The IDF's Yonatan Battalion of the Hasmonean Brigade successfully completed its first major exercise in the Golan Heights, demonstrating advanced combat.

The Yonatan Battalion of the Hasmonean Brigade (613) completed its first battalion-level exercise in the Golan Heights yesterday (Tuesday), concluding the battalion’s operational readiness and preparation for operational activity.

As part of the exercise, the forces practiced combat in open terrain, raids, and urban warfare.

The Yonatan Battalion is the brigade’s first regular battalion. As part of their combat training, the soldiers in the battalion underwent specialized courses in demolitions, heavy weapons, drones, anti-tank missile systems, and snipers, adapted to their lifestyle, enabling the battalion to operate as an organic unit.

“It is possible to be ultra-Orthodox and be a combat soldier, you are making history,” said the Commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Nadav Lotan. “The Hasmonean Brigade continues to establish itself as a combat ground brigade. This exercise and the establishment of the battalions are another significant step towards that. I am proud of you, the combat soldiers and commanders of the brigade, you operate at a high operational standard while preserving your unique identity.”
