In his role, Khatib was responsible for the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence – the central intelligence body of the Iranian terror regime, which constitutes one of the regime’s main instruments of repression and terror. The ministry possesses advanced intelligence capabilities and serves as a central arm in supervision, espionage, and the execution of covert operations worldwide, and against the State of Israel and Iranian citizens in particular. As Minister of Intelligence, Khatib took a significant part in directing arrests and killings of demonstrators and in shaping the situation assessment during the recent internal protests in Iran. Similarly, he acted against Iranian citizens within the framework of the Hijab protests in 2022-2023. Alongside his activity against the State of Israel, Khatib led the terror activities of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence against Israeli and American targets worldwide, and even against targets within the territory of the State of Israel during Operation “Lion’s Roar”.
