Terrorist gets life for Dimentman murder, trafficking
Terrorist receives life sentence for Yehuda Dimentman's murder and arms trafficking, highlighting IDF's commitment to justice.
In addition, he was also convicted of the offense of trafficking in implements of war. The terrorist was convicted of arriving on December 16, 2021, with two other terrorists at the Homesh Junction, positioning themselves in the area and observing the settlement of Homesh. When they noticed a vehicle on its way to the junction, two of them positioned themselves at the firing point, and the third waited in the escape vehicle. Upon the arrival of the vehicles at the junction, the two terrorists fired approximately 20 rounds each at the vehicle, until they encountered a weapon malfunction. Yehuda Dimentman, may he rest in peace, was killed in the shooting, and two other passengers were injured. During the sentencing arguments, the victims testified, and the prosecution requested a agreed-upon sentence of life imprisonment, as well as appropriate compensation for the victims. The military court sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment, in addition to compensation payments totaling more than 2 million shekels for the estate of the deceased, as well as compensation payments to other victims. The military court emphasized that intentionally taking a person’s life embodies the most severe violation of the value of the sanctity of life, which is a supreme fundamental value in our society and in any well-ordered human society, as without it, no other right has validity or existence. It should be clarified that the legal proceedings against three additional terrorists who carried out the attack are still ongoing in the Samaria Military Court. The military prosecution will continue to act with determination to prosecute all those who harm citizens of the State of Israel. The IDF shares in the deep sorrow of the family and will continue to support the victims in whatever they need.
