In the early morning, the Air Force launched a combined attack of approximately 50 fighter jets with over 100 munitions on the main headquarters of the regime’s leadership in Tehran. This is a large-scale underground bunker, located beneath several residential neighborhoods in Tehran, at a depth of tens of meters. This is the secret bunker from which Khamenei was supposed to manage the fighting against Israel – but he was eliminated before he could use it.
“Regime senior officials continued to use the bunker because they thought it was a protected and impenetrable place – they were wrong,” said IDF Spokesperson, Brigadier General Efi Drorin, in his statement. “At this stage, we are examining the results of the attack. The destruction of the bunker is another severe blow to the regime’s ability to maintain continuous functioning and deepens its destabilization.”
The identification of the asset was made possible following a sustained effort in recent years by the Research Division, Unit 8200, and Unit 9900 in AMAN, who together succeeded in mapping the asset in a way that enabled a precise and valuable strike.
