Last Friday, the Ephraim Brigade forces conducted an operation to neutralize explosive devices that remained in the Nur al-Shams refugee camp, after they were exposed and located in recent weeks based on new intelligence received by the IDF.
During the operation, forces from the ‘Magen David’ Battalion (8551) and engineering forces scanned the camp area and located five explosive devices that posed a threat to our forces operating in the area.
According to estimates, the devices were planted in the area over a year ago, before the IDF began Operation ‘Defensive Shield’. The devices were successfully neutralized by MAGLAV Judea and Samaria sappers.
The camps in the northern Samaria region serve as centers of gravity for terrorist activity originating from population concentrations.
Thanks to the constant presence of IDF forces in the camps, the forces continue to locate ammunition, weapons, and explosive devices used by terrorist organizations in the area, which endanger IDF forces and operational freedom of action.
