IDF investigation reveals artillery error killed Ofer Moscovitz at Misgav Am; serious operational deficiencies found.

In the evening hours, an investigation was held on the matter, headed by the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Rafi Milo, and other senior commanders. The initial investigation findings indicate that Ofer (Pushko) Moscovitz was killed by artillery fire that was carried out with the aim of assisting forces operating in the southern Lebanon area. His family has been updated. The commander of the command concluded that during the incident, several serious operational deficiencies and errors arose in the planning and execution of the fire. The shelling was carried out at an incorrect angle and not according to the required procedures. As a result, five shells hit the Misgav Am ridge, instead of enemy targets. The investigation’s conclusions will be drawn and learned by all relevant parties. The IDF regrets the incident and shares in the sorrow of the Moscovitz family and the Misgav Am community at this difficult time. The IDF will conduct a further in-depth and fully transparent investigation, which will be presented to the family and then to the public.
