Marching along the path of leadership and identity: over 1,000 members of the youth centers of the Ministry of the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience from 16 Druze communities in the Galilee participated in the traditional march to the Tomb of “Nabi Shu’ayb”, moving in formation to create the emblem of the Druze flag. The march was held last Friday (April 11, 2025, 13 Nissan) at the initiative of the members of the youth centers of the Ministry of the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience in the Druze communities of Daliyat al-Karmel, Isfiya, Maghar, Rameh, Sajur, Bayt Jann, Hurfeish, Peki’in, Kisra-Sumei, Yanuh-Jat, Abu Snan, Julis and Yarka. The youth centers are run by the Ma’ase Center Association.
The members, 7th grade to 12th grade students, marched the 3 km route from Kibbutz Lavi to the Tomb of Nabi Shu’ayb next to Mount Arbel – draped in the flags of the Druze Community and singing traditional songs.
Since 2015, the march has become an inspiring tradition held annually in April, connecting the community’s youngsters with their heritage, traditions and sense of belonging. After arriving at the tomb, a range of educational activities were held, at the end of which the members moved in formation to create the emblem of the five colors of the Druze flag – a symbolic and stirring gesture of unity, pride and collective leadership.
The 16 youth centers of the Ministry of the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience operate in 14 local authorities in the Druze sector in order to strengthen the leadership skills of 3,500 male and female youth. The centers operate through the Ma’ase Center. The centers serve as an educational and social framework, encouraging youth leadership, community engagement and a profound sense of belonging. The march is just one of the ways in which the young generation demonstrates its leadership and commitment to the future of a community with strong values and connected to its identity.
