17 Israeli-Arab Former Convicted Felons Retrained as Mechanics in New Rehabilitation Program
17 Israeli-Arab former felons have been retrained and certified as auto mechanics through a new rehabilitation program in Be'er Sheva, aiming to reduce.
Jerusalem, 4 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — As part of the Prisoner Rehabilitation Authority’s efforts to help those convicted of criminal offenses – specifically Arab-Israelis – after they are released from prison and reintegrate them into society and into employment, 17 Arab former prisoners were certified as auto mechanics after completing a training course.
The course was held at the Automotive Technology College in Be’er Sheva and was attended by 17 Arab released prisoners in 14 weekly classes. All participants completed the course.
One of the goals of the Prisoner Rehabilitation Authority is to enable the integration of released prisoners into the community and society – and also into employment.
The main goal is to reduce recidivism and find a suitable alternative to the world of crime, explained the Authority.
