Israel's Chief Rabbis congratulated eight newly elected city rabbis, including those from Gedera, Ramla, and Be'er Sheva, on their vital mission to unite and.

The meeting was attended by the elected rabbis: Rabbi Yaron Ashkenazi, Shlit”a, Chief Rabbi of Gedera, Rabbi Yitzhak Rafael Abuchatzira, Shlit”a, Chief Rabbi of Ramla, Rabbi Uri Sedan, Shlit”a, Rabbi of Savyon, Rabbi Avraham Dery, Shlit”a, Chief Rabbi of Be’er Sheva, Rabbi Erez Elharar, Shlit”a, Chief Rabbi of Hod HaSharon, Rabbi Eliyahu Mazo, Shlit”a, Chief Rabbi of Katzrin, Rabbi Yosef Toledano, Shlit”a, Chief Rabbi of Kiryat Bialik, and Rabbi Yehiel Baruch Basis, Shlit”a, Chief Rabbi of Rosh HaAyin.

During the meeting, the Chief Rabbis congratulated the elected rabbis on their entry into office, emphasized the great responsibility placed upon a city rabbi in our generation to strengthen religious institutions, deepen the connection with the community, and act to increase Torah and Unity, and wished them great success in their public mission.

Subsequently, the elected rabbis participated in a conference of the Chief Rabbinate Council and received the blessings of the council members, who wished them success in increasing and glorifying Torah in their cities.

The elected rabbis thanked the Chief Rabbis for their trust and guidance, and expressed their commitment to act with devotion for the residents of the cities, with loyalty to Halakha and the tradition of Israel.

Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rishon LeZion Rabbi David Yosef: “The responsibility placed upon you as city rabbis is heavy. You have been chosen to be public emissaries to unite and draw closer every Jew with a pleasant countenance, to illuminate the path of Torah in practical life, and to elevate the status of the rabbinate in your communities. I wish you great success in your roles and much heavenly assistance.”

Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi Kalman Meir Bar: “The role of a city rabbi is to be a spiritual lighthouse, a unifying leader, and a Torah scholar. You carry a mission of both Torah and the public on your shoulders. May you merit to increase the honor of Heaven and act to strengthen the tradition and Unity of Israel everywhere, without compromising on adherence to Halakha.”

Director-General of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, Yehuda Cohen: “The election of city rabbis strengthens the status of the ‘Mara D’Atra’ as the cornerstone of the local rabbinate system. A city rabbi bears overall responsibility for leading the rabbinate in his city, for halakhic authority, and for managing the religious services system with a broad and state-like vision. The Chief Rabbinate will stand by them with full professional and administrative support, and I wish to clarify that the Chief Rabbinate’s house is open to them, and they will see it as their home for all matters of professional discourse, consultation, and leading joint initiatives for the benefit of strengthening the rabbinate system throughout the country.”
