Severe Air Pollution Alert

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health are warning that since the night of August 11, severe air pollution has been measured in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and the Jordan Valley. The air pollution is a result of very high concentrations of respirable particles, caused by increased cloudiness over the Jordan region which is leading to gusts of wind and the transport of dust from the east into our area.

The Ministry of Health recommends that sensitive populations – including patients with heart and vascular diseases, lung patients, the elderly, pregnant women, and children – avoid strenuous physical activity in the open air. The general population is also advised to reduce strenuous physical activity outdoors.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection will continue to update the public as needed, based on forecasting data and measurements from monitoring stations throughout the country.

You can track the monitoring stations using the Ministry of Environmental Protection’s mobile apps: SvivaAIR – Air Quality – Android, Avir Ba’Sviva – iOS, or on the Israel Air Quality Monitoring website.
