Jerusalem, 17 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Health Ministry reported that a 17-year-old unvaccinated boy has died from Measles. He had underlying health conditions and had been hospitalized for over two weeks before his condition worsened.
According to the ministry, most of the other 16 recent measles deaths involved healthy, unvaccinated infants and children.
The ministry stressed that measles is preventable through vaccination and urged timely medical care when symptoms appear. Routine vaccination is recommended at ages one and six, with additional doses advised in outbreak areas or for infants traveling to regions experiencing outbreaks. Unvaccinated individuals are urged to avoid crowded events in these areas.
