High to Eextreme Air Pollution Continues Today Due to Airborne Dust Particles

High to extreme air pollution continues today due to airborne dust particles from North Africa, impacting sensitive populations.

Ministry of HealthDisasters

The high air pollution is related to the slow settling of dust that was carried into our region yesterday by southwesterly winds from North Africa.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health recommend that sensitive populations, including people with heart disease, lung disease, older adults, children, and pregnant women, avoid strenuous outdoor physical activity. The general public is advised to reduce strenuous outdoor physical activity.

From the afternoon hours, moderate to high Air Pollution is expected in all areas except the Eilat area and the southern Arava, where air quality is expected to gradually and slowly improve during Sunday (February 15). On Monday (February 16), moderate to high air pollution is expected in all areas, and high air pollution is still forecast. The Ministry will continue to update the public as necessary based on forecast data and measurements taken at monitoring stations nationwide.

You can follow the monitoring stations on the website and on the “Air in the Environment” app of the Ministry of Environmental Protection at [https://air.sviva.gov.il](https://air.sviva.gov.il).
