Following several infection incidents in the ICU at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, the Ministry of Health instructed that all patients be moved from the unit until thorough sanitization and disinfection are completed.
This is expected to finish in a few days. Patients were either discharged according to their condition or transferred to receive care from the ICU team. Sanitization and disinfection began today within the internal medicine department.
The hospital is carrying out the required procedure under the supervision and guidance of the Ministry of Health’s Infection Prevention Unit.
Once the process is completed, the Ministry of Health’s Infection Prevention Unit will inspect the unit. The ICU will reopen for patients only after the Ministry’s approval.
The Ministry of Health will provide updates when the process is complete.
