Israels Largest Solar Power Plant Moves Forward

Israel's largest solar power plant, a 265 MW facility in Dimona, has completed financial closing with electricity rates under 0.065 Shekels per kWh.

Jerusalem, 3 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The largest solar power plant in Israel is underway: The financial closing for the construction of the solar power plant in Dimona has been completed, with a capacity of 265 megawatts and the lowest electricity rate in the economy – less than 0.065 Shekels per kWh.

The station, which will cover an area of approximately 700 acres in the Dimona area and will produce an installed capacity of 265 megawatts using photovoltaic technology, will be built using the PPP method, under which the selected concessionaire is responsible for planning, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the solar power station for a period of 25 years, at the end of which the station will be returned to the state.

The station is added to a series of PPP projects for the construction of renewable energy power plants in the Ashalim area promoted by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Accountant General’s Department, and the Electricity Authority, which together provide over 800 megawatts of renewable energy, helping to supply production in the economy in line with the growing demand and contributing to meeting national goals for Electricity production from renewable energy.
