New ‘Basket for Israel’ Will Offer Consumers Huge Discounts
Israel's Ministry of Economy and Industry partners with Carrefour to launch "Basket for Israel," providing 100 essential products at a discounted price of 1,098.
Jerusalem, 12 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Carrefour chain are launching a national initiative to deal with the cost of living – The Basket for Israel. Carrefour will offer a discounted basket for 1,098 Shekels ($361), compared to an average of 1,700 Shekels ($560) today. The basket will be available for purchase at 50 Carrefour branches throughout the country and on the chain’s online website.
The basket includes 100 leading products consumed by the Israeli public, with approximately 30% of them being whole grains, legumes, frozen vegetables, fermented dairy products, milk substitutes, olive oil, whole wheat tahini, water and soda, baby products, hygiene products, and more. The basket is based on actual consumption data and is intended to serve as a transparent and reliable reference point for price comparison.
Carrefour is committed to offering the basket at the set price, or lower, in at least 40 of its branches and has chosen to offer it in 50 branches located throughout the country – from Dan to Eilat and online, for at least six months. The move will be accompanied by a supervisory mechanism that includes field inspections, price checks and product availability checks
