Today (Tuesday), a situation assessment was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, headed by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, MK Avi Dichter, and the Director-General of The Ministry, Oren Lavie, with the participation of the Ministry’s management and professional staff. The Ministry continues to work to ensure the continuity of production and supply chains for the public.
Farmers in Israel continue to operate even under fire, to ensure the public a regular supply of fresh agricultural produce and to ensure food security. From an updated situation assessment, it appears that there is sufficient stock from local production to meet demand, including winter vegetables and fruits (citrus). The operation of slaughterhouses and butcheries, as well as the collection and marketing of eggs, are also continuing as usual and in full coordination with all parties in the industries, and are meeting local demand. In the dairy sector, the dairies continue to produce raw milk in full volumes, stably and meeting local demand. Milk collection from the dairies is carried out continuously and regularly.
In the flower sector, only limited activity is taking place. The export of flowers and spices, which is carried out by air from Ben Gurion Airport, has also been reduced due to air activity limitations. The Ministry is working with all relevant parties to find solutions and reduce the damage to exporters.
