Jerusalem, 8 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Tkuma Directorate and the Ministry of Education, is publishing a broad incentive outline for teaching staff in the Tkuma region, aimed at strengthening the human capital of the education system in the region and ensuring stability, quality and educational innovation in the coming years.
The Tkuma region is the areas near Gaza that were overrun during the October 7 massacre and the Tkuma Directorate deals with the development of the area.
As part of the outline, recruitment grants will be awarded to new teaching staff who will be hired at educational institutions in the Tekoma region, depending on the duration of the commitment and the choice to relocate to the area. The scope of the outline is approximately 24 million Shekels ($7.65 million) over three years, from the Tekoma Administration’s budget.
The grants are intended, among other things, for teachers in core subjects, care professions, kindergarten teachers and educational consultants, and will be given for a work commitment of one to three years.
Emphasis will be placed on encouraging educational initiatives: Teachers, principals, and kindergarten teachers in the Tekoma region will be able to lead pedagogical and innovative initiatives, which will receive a monthly incentive of 1,000 Shekels, for the duration of the school year, subject to approval by the Ministry of Education and the local authority. In this way, the outline seeks to strengthen quality educational work, initiative, and local leadership in schools and kindergartens.
