Jerusalem, 5 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s foreign minister Gideon Sa’ar participated in the Critical Minerals Conference in Washington, attended by dozens of countries and senior US government officials, which was held at the initiative of the US and chaired by Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The conference was led by the US State Department and attended by ministers from around the world and heads of companies involved in the critical minerals sector. The conference dealt, among other things, with securing the global supply chains of critical minerals, which are essential for advanced industries.

During the conference, Sa’ar held a series of side and bilateral meetings. Among other things, he met with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, Indian Foreign Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and Bolivian Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo.

“The broad international coalition led by the US,” said Sa’ar, “is intended to create a new international system that will guarantee its members the supply of critical minerals for the various industries that are essential to their economies and national security.”

“The new system of arrangements is designed to ensure stability throughout the supply chain of critical minerals: from mining, through refining and processing, to the production of final products, while providing a response to all the failures and risks that exist today,” he added.
