Israel Sees 6.2% Increase in VAT File Openings First Half 2025, After Big Drop in 2024

Israel's economy saw VAT dealer file openings increase by 6.2% in H1 2025, a rebound after a 10.1% drop in H1 2024 across all sectors.

Jerusalem, 2 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the country saw a 6.2% increase in the opening of VAT dealer files, after a 10.1% decrease in the first half of 2024 in all sectors of the economy. There was also a 5.9% increase in the closing of VAT dealer files, after a 14.5% decrease in the first half of 2024.

Construction industry (F-order industry)

A 12.5% increase in the opening of VAT business cases, after a 9.9% decrease in the first half of 2024.

A 10.8% increase in VAT dealer case closures, after a 4.4% decrease in the first half of 2024.

Real estate activities industry (order L industry)

A 1.0% increase in VAT business case openings, after a 9.8% decrease in the first half of 2024.

A 12.5% decrease in VAT dealer case closures, after a 10.8% decrease in the first half of 2024.

Total high-tech industries (relevant manufacturing industries from order C and relevant service industries from orders J and M)

An 8.1% increase in the opening of VAT business cases, after a 7.0% decrease in the first half of 2024.

A 5.6% decrease in VAT dealer case closures, after a 17.4% decrease in the first half of 2024.
