Israel Sees 50% Drop in Tourist Arrivals in May

Tourist arrivals in Israel dropped by nearly 50% in May 2026, with 64,400 visitors, largely due to airport closures during the war with Iran.

Jerusalem, 4 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In May 2026, there were 64,400 tourist arrivals to Israel, down almost 50% from the 124,000 in May 2025. This is according to the data released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics.

In the months of January – May 2026, there was a total of 356,400 visitor arrivals to Israel, down from 565,300 in the same period of 2025. 35.2% of visitor arrivals were from the United States, 10.7% from France, 7.7% from the United Kingdom, and 5.5% from Russia.

The reductions were clearly caused by the closure of Israel’s airport for six weeks during the war with Iran and the drop in air carrier returns after the ceasefire went into effect.
