Jerusalem, 31 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — the Government of Israel approved today (Tuesday) the allocation of 100 million Shekels ($31 million) to the current budget of local authorities required for immediate assistance with emergency expenses due to the war with Iran, with the aim of ensuring their continued functioning and the provision of essential services to residents in an emergency.

The war poses significant challenges for local authorities in preparing for the emergency. To assist them, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has instructed that a specific financial compensation plan be brought forward as soon as possible to assist with emergency expenses, in accordance with criteria to be determined by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior.

The outline includes a basic grant for all authorities, alongside a dedicated addition for authorities that have been more significantly affected, depending on the scope of the activity and the actual damage.
