Following investigative actions, a reservist suspect (Tiberias, 30) was arrested that evening, suspected of stealing the weapon from a soldier in his unit. Following suspicion that the weapon had been transferred to criminal elements, a joint investigation was opened by the Northern District’s Central Unit and Military Police, during which a civilian (Kiriat Tivon, 30) was arrested, who, according to the investigation materials, received the rifle on the night of the theft. In addition, during the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect and another suspect (Tiberias, 34) had been operating a network for trading cocaine and other drugs in recent months, a large portion of which were supplied to soldiers on bases in the north of the country. As part of the investigation’s development, the brother of the soldier suspected of stealing the weapon, serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in a military camp in the north of the country, is being investigated for offenses of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to commit a crime. During the investigation, it was discovered that he supplied them with medical cannabis, which he received legally, on several occasions.
